Most wedding favors are often a last minute decision (especially if you are on a budget). The purpose of the wedding favor is to give your guest something to take with them, so they can remember your special event. Traditionally, it is believed this practice started when the bride and groom would hand out packages or boxes of “luck” (usually candied almonds, cakes or pastries). This was to symbolize new couple’s luck and happiness for years to come. Over time, the idea behind the wedding favor has evolved.
Choosing Your Wedding Favors
Shopping for the perfect wedding favor can take time. This can be a challenging experience-especially if you do not know what kind of favors your desire! If you choose to shop “in person”, it is recommended to make a list of the types of favors you would like to view. One you have made the list, you can visit the specialty store or shop and browse through catalogs so you can make decisions regarding your favor. More than one trip usually is required, sometimes requiring multiple return trips (including the pick-up of the favors). The method of meeting with a consultant or stopping at a specialty store is giving way to the online ordering industry.
Why Online?
So, what are some of the great reasons to shop for party favors online? Ordering online allows you a flexible schedule (you can browse at any time.) The Internet store is always open! It also gives you a larger choice of selections. You will have the ability to choose from hundreds (even thousands) of virtual “order books”.
Prices of favors tend to be less online than the traditional store bought favors. Online companies/businesses do not have the overhead traditional stores have.
Ordering your favors online also give you the most current trends. Stores usually receive a book/supply book for the year. Unlike the stores and boutiques, the Internet is updated daily. Finally, the favors are delivered right to your doorstep. Everything arrives directly to you, and can stay safely in the box, until the day of your wedding.
You may be asking yourself:
“Why would I order from a from a brick and mortar store or boutique?” The answer is simple—service. Ordering your favors from a “live” person will oftentimes provide better customer service. The people working in the specialty stores are aware of the internet competition, and realize the only way to make up for some of the perks the internet offers is to have excellent customer service. Oftentimes, it helps to “know” whom you are dealing with, and how you can reach them, easily. If you are not familiar with the company who is handling your online purchase, you may want to research the company’s background prior to placing your order.
