Putting The Perfect Day Together

Wedding organizingPutting The Perfect Day Together

Every woman has a dream wedding. Whether you want to fly to Vegas and elope or have the Wedding of the Century, there is always planning involved. So what are the steps to planning the perfect wedding day?

Step #1: Know What You Want

While the bride may have dreams, the groom does, too. It is a good idea for you both to sit down and talk about what you want on your wedding day. Discuss what you both have in mind and find a place to compromise. Planning will be much easier if you are both on the same page throughout the process.

Step #2: Get Organized

Planning a wedding can become overwhelming if you do not have a specific plan laid out. You have all of your ideas, and now you need to make them come to fruition. It is a good idea to either hire a wedding planner or buy a planner specifically designed for weddings. Writing out a plan will keep you sane when you are being pulled in many different directions by vendors, family members, the bridal party, and more.

Step #3: Get Help

Even if you want to plan your wedding yourself, it is a good idea to enlist the help of one or two other people. There are always family members or friends that love to plan events and will help you put together the perfect day. They can help field phone calls, research vendors, and keep things moving on the actual day.

Step #4: Go Shopping

Now that you have your plans laid out, it is time to go shopping for the things you need for your day. This is the point that you need to pull out those negotiating and shopping skills. Even if you have a huge budget for your wedding you still want to be sure you get the best deal on what you need. It is a good idea to visit some bridal shows and different vendors to see what each one has to offer. The people you enlist to help you in the planning can also do some shopping around, too, so that you do not overpay for your wedding items.

In the days before the wedding, it is really important to finalize your plans. Make sure contracts are signed and double check times of service. You will want to double-check all the plans and services, because sometimes (and, yes, it can happen to you) vendors fall through. It may mean scrambling in the days before the wedding, but better to scramble before the wedding than on the wedding day.

Step #6: Have Fun

The day of your wedding should have minimal stress. This is why you enlisted the help of a couple people you can trust in your planning. Let them make sure the ushers are where they need to be, that the caterer is running on time, and that the first dance is the right song. This is your day, and you should be able to enjoy it. Also, relax. Things do go wrong. It happens – even with all the best planning in the world. Make sure you put on your sense of humor and be ready to laugh. Remember, your wedding is one day in your marriage, and you have the rest of your life to spend with the person you love.
