How to Stretch a Wedding Budget
So, you have a budget that needs to stretch the entire gambit of expenses, and you do not see how that’s possible. Believe me, with a little creative thinking, the possibilities are endless. With a little know how, careful scrutiny, and strategic implementation, we can stretch those budgeted pennies a lot further.
Pinching your pennies just takes a little application of common sense. For starters, avoiding peak wedding season is a good way to shave additional costs off your wedding expenses. The peak season is usually the summer months, mainly May, June, and July. If you don not want to give up your summer wedding, you can opt to have your wedding on a weekday during the summer, instead of a Saturday.
Another technique to cut down on high wedding costs is to cut down on your number of invited guests. This works relatively. The fewer guests you have the less you wedding will costs. If stretching your budget really is a priority, then spend your wedding days with your closest family and friends. You will have numerous occasions in the future to party informally with everyone else.
Now, if you are willing to eliminate your guest list entirely, an excellent wedding budget stretching technique is to purchase a tropical wedding destination package. There are some exceptional destination wedding packages on offer in today’s hospitality industry. Take some time out and see what is currently on offer. As an added savings technique, you can choose to schedule your tropical wedding/honeymoon package during off-season. Even better, you can choose not to travel at all and enjoy your honeymoon right at home.
Believe it or not, utilizing your family to fill your wedding needs is a genius of budget stretching techniques that could stretch your budget far beyond what your originally anticipated. Don’t forget to be considerate towards your family members who are helping you in various ways during your nuptials. They do not necessarily want to be so busy that they are unable to participate in and enjoy your wedding. Hence, it is suggested that you arrange comfortable work schedules and activity responsibilities, so everyone knows exactly what is expected of them. As a result, your family treasure hunt may reveal an avid seamstress, a professional photographer, a hairdresser, a florist, and a baker. Seriously consider the implications of this type of wedding savings.
If you have taken the time to find trustworthy suppliers, your suppliers may be able to help you cut cost by utilizing less packaging material and cheap seasonal materials.
Additionally, you may want to keep in mind that the more formal the affair the more expenses you will incur. A buffet is an excellent option for reducing costs, as you have eliminated the need to hire staff to serve your guests. It’s your wedding remember? Why limit yourself? Be as creative and informal as you choose.
On that same note if you are being creative and all, why not decide to design all your wedding stationery needs, like the invitations, wedding agendas, itineraries, and place cards.
Further, embrace the concept of dual or multi-purpose. Utilize every opportunity you can to fill more than one need with a purchase. Remember to keep yourself in the right frame of mind and stick to your budget, pinching your pennies as you go.
