Alternatives to the Bridal Veil

One of the most classic pictures of a wedding is the bride walking down the aisle in her beautiful white dress and long, flowing veil. However, not every bride is opting for the traditional wedding attire. One of the ways that brides are opting for something different is to eschew the wedding veil in favor of different headwear. From hats to tiaras, there are plenty of options for the non-traditional bride:

Hat

Some brides like to add a little bit of mystery to their walk down the aisle. From wide brimmed hats to small pillboxes, you may want to look at a hat as an alternative to the traditional veil. Besides, as you plan your wedding it is fun to try on a lot of alternatives. Just remember that your hat should not overpower your wedding dress.

Tiara

You are the bride, meaning you get to be queen for a day. Some brides channel their inner queen by replacing their veil with a tiara. There are simple tiaras made of rhinestones, and there are also the tiaras made more elaborate by adding pearls or jewels. Remember, though, to bring your tiara with you to your stylist so that he or she can recommend a good hairstyle to complement your attire and your tiara.

Flowers

Another option to consider as you plan your wedding attire is flowers for your hair. Some brides opt for simplicity by adding one flower, while others go for flowers clipped throughout their hair. You can discuss getting fresh flowers with your florist or opt for silk flowers that will last beyond the wedding day.

Jewels

Some brides like to clip jewels directly into their hair rather than wearing them in a tiara. You can find barrettes or clips with a single jewel or a large number of gems. Just be sure the gems complement your dress and other accessories.

Headband

If you are looking for simplicity, a headband can be an excellent way to go. A nice white headband can be a complement to a simple wedding gown or add a nice touch when you are wearing an elaborate gown.

Nothing at All

Even more simple than finding a hair accessory is not wearing an accessory at all. Some brides are opting to go without a veil or anything else in their hair. They prefer to keep their look natural and simple.
